Vehicular access into the site will be provided by two new entrances – one from The Street and one from Poyle Road. These will be connected by a new link road running through the development. This will ensure the even distribution of traffic and minimise impacts within the centre of Tongham.
In addition, there will be a new dedicated pedestrian/cycle/emergency access to Poyle Road provided next to St Paul’s Church.
All accesses will be delivered in conjunction with off-site improvements to the walking and cycling networks to enhance active travel connectivity within Tongham.
We will connect the new development to existing public footpaths and, where possible, to the nearby recreation ground through new walking and cycling routes. This will help create better links for everyone moving through the area.
We’re developing a transport plan to deliver on the vision of helping people to travel in ways which are greener and more environmentally friendly than relying on a private car. This will also benefit the existing residents within Tongham.

Encouraging healthier travel options
A Travel Plan aimed at reducing car use and encouraging healthier travel options.
New charging points
Providing electric vehicle charging points.
A new car park
A new car park for users of the Scout Hut at Poyle Road.
Taylor Wimpey is committed to improving transport links and supporting public transport so residents have more options for getting around, helping to reduce reliance on cars.
To ensure the development is ready for the future and supports greener travel, electric vehicle charging points will be provided for new homes and within communal parking areas.
Taylor Wimpey is working closely with Guildford Borough Council and Surrey County Council to understand how local roads will manage with the new homes. We’ll identify any potential issues and make sure solutions are in place to keep traffic moving safely. A robust Transport Assessment will be prepared to accompany the planning application and this will be informed by a comprehensive suite of traffic data from local roads to carefully assess current conditions.
